2019년의 한 여름,
맑은 물과 자연의 향기가 가득한 양평에서 개최되는
제5회 대한민국 국제기타페스티벌 & 기타포럼에 참여해 주신 여러분을 온 마음을 다해 환영합니다.
현재 다섯 번째 국제기타페스티벌 & 기타포럼을 준비하면서 돌아보면,
2015년 제1회 국제기타페스티벌을 개최함으로써 그 첫 그루터기의 뿌리를 내리기 시작해서 지금까지,
비 바람의 시련도 있었지만, 많은 분들의 수고와 도움에 힘입어
지금처럼 양평군과의 코웍 속에서 잘 뿌리내리고 든든한 나무로 자라나
여러분과 함께 나무 그늘의 안식과 열매의 풍요로움을 누릴 수 있게 되었습니다.
이 축제가 지금의 풍요로움에 그치지 않고,
마스터클래스, 악기 전시회, 국제기타콩쿨, 세계 정상급 연주가들의 콘서트, 기타 포럼 등의 프로그램에 깊이를 더하고,
전문가, 애호가 뿐만 아니라 기타가 생소한 사람들에게 기타를 체험하고 음악의 즐거움을 선사하는,
한 그루의 나무가 주는 풍성함을 넘어 숲이 주는 안식을 누릴 수 있는 축제가 되기를 꿈꾸고 있습니다.
이 번 제5회 국제기타페스티벌 & 기타포럼에는 이를 위한 첫 삽을 기타 체험 부스 운영 등의 프로그램 개설을 통해 실천해보고자 합니다.
그 실천의 걸음걸음에 아낌 없는 조언과 격려 부탁드립니다.

I am pleased to welcome all of you for coming and joining us at the Fifth International Guitar Festival with the crispy clear water and blooming scent of nature in YangPyeong, Korea in the middle of summer.
Looking back, we have come a long way preparing for the International Guitar Festival and Forum the fifth time. The first festival initiated in 2015 has been firmly growing from its stubble stage then to a full-fledged tree now, overcoming some of the predicaments on its way, all based on the hard work and cooperation of many a person and the officials of YangPyeongGun District. Under the lush green, we can relish the cozy shade and its rich fruit of the festival now.
I still dream of going further from a tree level to a greater stage; abundant as it has been but to a feast on the snug respite of the woods this time. With the Masterclasses, Instrument Exhibition, International Guitar Competition, the top-notch performance of the world-class guitarists, and the Guitar Forum, we’d like to strengthen the professional aspect of it and provide the lively experience of the classical guitar and the fun of music itself to non-professional participants as well.
To meet this aspect, we are opening up a new section at the festival and forum where the participants can try out the guitars in person. Please feel free to give us your comments and encouragements on our try-outs as we go along. Now are you ready to enjoy the feast together in YangPyeong with the lavish greenery, the warm sunshine, and the lyrical tunes of the guitar filling up the air? We will look forward to seeing you on the very day August 13, 2019 and having you around for the festival.
I would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the guest professors who willingly made trips from abroad for their supreme performance and lectures here, the governor and officials of YangPyeongGun who have been helping us with everything, the corporate donors who have been supporting us, and the management, committee, and individual members of Korea Guitar Association who have planned, coordinated, and arranged this festival.
